“May the God of Hope Fill You with All Joy and Peace
as You Trust in Him, so that You May Overflow with Hope
by the Power of the Holy Spirit.”Romans 15:13
NICE TO MEET YOU!
A little information about myself and why I’ve chosen to write this blog…
My husband and I have been married for 36 years, and we have beautiful twin daughters; one is an agricultural scientist in the mid-west and the other a Christian missionary in the middle east. And we live between the two of them, in our little pocket of the Southeast! The daughter in the middle east is married and recently gave birth to our first grandchild. (I will definitely write more about those adventures later!) Career-wise, I am a former speech-language pathologist and administrative assistant in higher education.
I have always enjoyed writing. Over the years I co-wrote a few short plays for church, devotionals, and one national magazine article. But when God began a healing process in me some 17 years ago, I turned to journaling and the counsel of a godly sponsor. When writing in my journal, I would often use “word pictures”, or imagine scenes in my mind, to help me process problems, concepts, or emotions. These imagined scenes, when completed with the help of the Holy Spirit, usually brought an awareness I needed to begin healing in a certain area. Sometimes, they simply reminded me of why I needed a savior.
My stories are often related to my recovery journey from co-dependency, and the frequently co-existing compulsions toward people-pleasing, approval addiction, control, and anger – just to name a few!
Friends have commented that these stories helped them as well, so I began writing them down and sharing them. As a lay speaker in my former denomination, I had the privilege of preaching a number of times, and these images were often at the core of the messages. I hope you enjoy them and find something that speaks to you on your journey.
Blessings to you,
Tina
